Flat Boats on Ohio– Mr. A.J. Adye is building two flat boats at Adyeville 20 x 60, to be loaded with lumber this season. Starks Minor is also building two boats for the same purpose. Cannelton Reporter, Dec. 28, 1872.

• Joseph S. Basinger has a boat loaded with hoop poles on the Middle Fork of, Anderson, waiting for a rise. Cannelton Reporter, Apr. 26, 1873.
• Samuel Hargis of Derby is making money in the hoop pole trade down the river. Cannelton Reporter, June 14, 1873.
• Robinson and Minor have two boat loads of lumber in Anderson river at Minors’s mill, waiting for high water. A.J. Adye has another at his mill at Adyeville. Cannelton Reporter, June 21, 1873.
• Mr. John D. Huff has put a new engine & circular saw in the steam mill, formerly owned by John Kutch, on Anderson, and is now rapidly converting round logs into saw boards, laths & other lumber.
• Mr. John Kutch will launch the first of a number of barges, which he proposes to build near the above mill this week. Mr Kutch also designs building or buying a propeller to tow barges on the Ohio & Mississippi. Cannelton Reporter, Aug. 16, 1873.
• Oil Twp: Messrs Millers and Walters purchased a portable saw mill of William Heilman of Evansville, 25 horsepower, 62 tubed boiler, double saw, 60″ & 30″, to be located on Richard Deen’s Farm, on which they are to saw 200,000 feet. They expect one year work on Oil Creek and then on the Middle Fork. Not another mill in the County will equal theirs. Cannelton Reporter, Sept. 6, 1873.
