Was Result of Paralysis Following a Surgical Operation—Leaves Husband and Three Children.

Mrs. Joseph H. James, wife of the section foreman on the Illinois Central, died this morning at 7 o'clock from paralysis following a surgical operation. The operation was performed last Monday by Drs. Farrell of Fort Dodge, and Dr. Robson of Parkersburg, at which place the James family formerly lived. The operation was performed at the hospital and for the last few days very little hope has been held for her recovery.

The family residence was at the corner of Eighth avenue south and Fifteenth streets. The three children are a daughter, Louisa, a son, Earl, and a little four year old boy, all living at home. Earl is the enginemen's caller at the local Illinois Central round house. Mrs. James was universally popular with her many friends in this city, who greatly mourn her loss.

The funeral will occur from the Sacred Heart church Monday morning at 10 a.m.

TELL CITY NEWS January 25, 1908 Page 5 Fred Pfeifer, the barber, received a message from Tell City Saturday, conveying the sad intelligence of the death of his uncle, Jacob Snyder, a pioneer resident of Perry county. Mr. Pfeifer went to Tell City Sunday to attend the funeral which took place Monday. There is a remarkable co-incidence in the death of Mr. Snyder and Mr .Pfeifer's father. The older Pfeifer died November 3rd. He and Snyder were raised together in Germany. He came to this country in 1846, and two years later Snyder joined here. They were friends through life. Both were taken sick about the same time, and seemingly suffered from the same ailments, their deaths occurring hardly two months apart.....Rockport Democrat
